“Legends in the Making”
Oregon DeMolay’s 2012 Conclave was held from April 12th to the 15th in Keizer. The fun started Thursday night with a trip to Warpaint Indoor Paintball.
On Friday, the State Council held its business session, while the Sweethearts and Advisors also held meetings. After a “Lords and Ladies” lunch, attendees learned new strategies to increase membership and better organize their Chapters.
Friday night w
as a formal banquet honoring the leaders of Oregon’s Masonic Orders, followed by ritual competition and revelry. The evening finished with the traditional late night pizza feed.
On Saturday morning, a tournament was held featuring swordfighting, archery, spear throwing, and an obstacle course.
Saturday night was the awards banquet. Winners of the ritual competition were announced: Ryan Thornburgh won first place for First and Fifth Preceptor, Colton Ham won for Second Preceptor, Isaac Klementis won for Third Preceptor, David Thacker won Fourth, and Zach Duquette won Seventh. David Thacker also won for Obligation, while Bryan Chipman won the Flower Talk. Tioga Chapter won the Spirit Award, while Pacific Chapter was Most Improved Chapter. Dad Jason Thacker was this year’s winner of the Guild of the Leather Apron, or Honorary State Dad, while Mom Kelly Fletcher was the winner of the Graham Award.
Following the Awards banquet, Jennifer Chipman and Shellby Wilkins were installed as State Princess and State Sweetheart, while Ryan Thornburgh was installed as Council Secretary and Bryan Chipman was installed as State Master Councilor. Bryan and Ryan were also presented with their Representative DeMolay awards. Following installation was a dance.
